The Heart of Nursing

The Heart of Nursing

Nurses have many things in common. Compassion, teamwork, and pride are just a few.

Many nurses chose the nursing profession because they care about people and want to make a difference. Nurses are able to empathize while also showing great compassion. They are comforters and advocates.

Nurses can feel isolated, but just by being a nurse they have an automatic community, where fellow nurses understand one another. They get -- the struggles and the joys, the laughter and the tears, the hard conversations, being advocates for themselves, one another, & patients, being overworked & underpaid and the list goes on. The good and the bad are understood by those who walk in the same shoes.

Nurses are also a proud group that often goes unnoticed. Nurses know that without them, patient care would not be the same. They play a vital role in the day to day care of people all over the world. So, many nurses go quietly through their shifts, working hard with no thanks. They do it because they care. They do it because they feel a responsibility to take the best care of patients under their watch. Even without outward accolades, nurses keep doing the hard things day in and day out.

These shared values within the nursing profession are a testament to all the hardworking nurses out there! What a privilege to be a nurse!
